Gay Figure Skater Adam Rippon
Makes U.S. Winter Olympics Team

Adam Rippon is, according to OutSports.com, the first publicly out gay man ever selected to a Winter Olympics team from any country in any sport. He was one of the three male figure skaters named to the U.S. Olympic skating team on Sunday, January 7. As well, out and proud U.S. freestyle skier Gus Kenworthy (who came out after the last Winter Olympics) is expected to make the U.S. team, so we’re on our way. The Winter Olympics begin in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on February 9, a month from now.
When asked in an interview, “What is it like being a gay athlete in sports?” 28-year-old Rippon replied, “It’s exactly like being a straight athlete except with better eyebrows.”

So there you have it.
